On 03/02/2017 the Extremadura Council granted Bioimag with 56168.05€ to fund
the research project" Development of Matrix to Transport Stem Cells with Self-Diagnostic Ability and Analytical Methods for its Characterization" under the program D40/2016 involving FEDER funds from the European Union. The project will develop a novel diagnosis modality to monitor stem cells viability in vivo and in situ. Bioimag's
proposal to develop a gel to transport stem cells that allows the
monitoring of its own remodeling could significantly reduce the
slaughter of animals resulting in a market of 100 million per year for
this product only in Europe that can be accessed without expensive regulatory validation processes. In
future studies it will be possible to determine the relationship
between the degradation of the compounds produced by Bioimag technology
and more complex processes such as vascularization, inflammation,
integration of the grafted matrix and cell proliferation which precede
and determine the success or failure of regenerative therapies . In
this way, the follow-up of regeneration processes would be facilitated
as alternatives to existing invasive techniques based on biopsies or
post-mortem dissections. The project is intended to be ran in 24 months, it involves the participation of two units of the Nanbiosis Network, the faculty of Veterinary of the Extremadura University, the Spanish Scientific Council and a total investment of 88606.33€. See project signboard. |
